About the role and where you will be working
This position is based at Victoria Park House in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia and is a permanent full time position working the below shifts:
* Wednesday to Friday 0700-1506
* Saturday and Sunday 0630-1436
Remain connected to the local community at our charming, heritage style aged care home in Victoria Park, Kalgoorlie. Victoria Park House accommodates up to 22 residents in bright, cheerful rooms across three small households, each providing 24 hour personalised care. The home also offers aged care and short term respite accommodation for up to 29 residents, creating a warm and supportive environment where individuals feel safe, valued and at home.
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to
* Measuring, chopping, mixing, and cooking ingredients (baking, frying, grilling, boiling) according to set recipes.
* Checking ingredient freshness, ensuring correct food temperatures, and ensuring consistent portion sizes.
* Setting up workstations with necessary equipment, tools, and supplies prior to service.
* Cleaning and sanitizing, food preparation areas, equipment, and utensils to meet health regulations.
* Storing food properly to avoid spoilage and monitoring stock levels to assist with reordering.
* Garnishing and plating food in accordance with restaurant standards.
* Working with other cooks, chefs, and kitchen hands to complete orders timely.
About you
You may already be working in aged care, or perhaps you're looking to bring your commercial cooking experience into a more meaningful setting. Whether your background is in restaurants, commercial kitchens, or catering, you're ready for a role where your skills make a genuine difference.
You will thrive in this role if you are compassionate, organised, and committed to delivering high quality food services.
To be considered for this role, you'll need
* Certificate III in Commercial Cooking
* Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (preferred)
* Prior experience in commercial cooking services
* An understanding of specific dietary requirements
* Knowledge of safe handling & storage of chemicals
* Great interpersonal skills
