Remuneration : $84,436 - $112,331 per annum, pro rata

Hours Per Week : up to 38

About the role

The Aboriginal Cancer Care Coordinator provides support, guidance and referral of Aboriginal clients, family members and carers to access timely and appropriate Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) services for cancer management.

Job status

These are temporarily funded positions with the possibility of extension subject to additional funding. The Aboriginal Cancer Care Coordinators will support, guide, and refer Aboriginal clients, family members and carers to access timely and appropriate services for cancer prevention and management utilising Optimal care pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with cancer. The positions aim to improve access, equity, and health care for Aboriginal people with cancer, promoting patient centred care and a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, facilitating 'closing the gap' between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal cancer outcomes. The roles will ensure care coordination for each person is informed by factors such as connection to land, gender, kinship, inter-generational trauma, family ties, language barriers and socio-economic issues.

Eligibility : Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander descent. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
