Position Information
Established in 1879, Ellerston Public School is a small rural school located near the source of the Hunter River, beneath the Barrington Tops, approximately 75km from Scone. With a current enrolment of 10 students, the school offers a unique multi‐stage learning environment where every child is known, valued, and supported.
Ellerston Public School provides highly personalised learning programs tailored to individual student strengths and needs, enabling strong academic growth alongside social and emotional development. Specific Selection Criteria
* In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.
* Demonstrated capacity to support and lead staff successfully through the implementation of the Plan for Education in the areas of explicit teaching, High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE), student voice and attendance, high‐level educational leadership, and dual‐role management of teaching principal with a developed understanding of 'systems', 'instructional' and 'collaborative' leadership styles.
* Highly developed skills in collaborative and distributed leadership, ability to involve students, staff and community in the decision‐making process of the school.
* A collaborative and innovative leader who can promote and nurture harmonious and productive relationships with the P&C, AECG, Learning Community and Network to support students and staff of Ellerston Public School.
General Selection Criteria
* High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education.
* Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole‐school teaching and learning programs.
* High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community.
* Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning.
* Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning.
* Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level TP1 for 2026.

Remuneration
Total remuneration package: $168,946.00 (base salary $149,059.00).
