Role Summary
We are looking for a
Lead Program Architect to provide strategic architectural direction and leadership for a multi-year Application Modernisation Program
, valued at up to $500 million. This program is pivotal to transforming business operations, enhancing cybersecurity, enabling energy transition goals, and driving large-scale cloud migration across a complex IT/OT environment.
This is a hands-on, pragmatic role that will define business architecture blueprints, establish future-state roadmaps, and ensure strategic alignment across multiple high-value projects.
You will influence architecture outcomes across a large enterprise workforce—without direct delivery ownership—by embedding accountability, commercial logic, and technical rigor.
Contract Summary
Rate: Based on experience
Duration: 12+ months
Work model: Remote with ability to go into the office when required
Location: Sydney, Victoria, South Australia, ACT (based on the east coast of Australia)
Responsibilities
* Define and deliver a business architecture reference framework outlining current state and future state transformation paths
* Lead architectural direction across projects to ensure alignment with enterprise goals, particularly cloud migration, digitisation, and sustainability
* Translate complex business and operational needs into actionable architectural outcomes and technology designs
* Provide architectural assurance across cloud adoption, cybersecurity uplift, and operational transformation
* Navigate inherited legacy program components and stabilise existing architectural foundations
* Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to shape a cohesive transformation roadmap
* Influence delivery teams and vendors through consultative leadership—without direct line ownership
* Support regulatory alignment and risk management across modernisation streams
* Apply architectural discipline across a portfolio of high-value, business-critical projects
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Lead Architect on large-scale transformation programs (>$100M), ideally in energy, defence, or other regulated sectors
* Strong background in enterprise architecture, business architecture, and digital transformation
* Expertise in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and transitioning from on-premise environments
* Sound understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and operational resilience
* Experience working in IT/OT blended environments or within regulated/mission-critical domains
* Ability to manage and influence stakeholders at senior levels across business and technology functions
* Comfortable operating in ambiguity, stabilising inherited programs, and driving practical outcomes
* Backgrounds from defence consulting (e.g. Thales), critical infrastructure, or large-scale private enterprises are highly regarded
