Kaliba is working exclusively with a Melbourne-based data and technology company operating at the intersection of sport and AI. Their platform powers performance intelligence for some of the most respected organisations in Australian sport - and they're building the next generation of it.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a technically meaty, high-ownership role where you'll work closely with the Principal Technology Architect, take deep responsibility for the proprietary platform, and help shape where AI takes them next.
The Role
As Lead Software Engineer, you'll become the technical backbone of the platform - understanding it deeply, evolving it intelligently, and leading the integration of AI and machine learning into core workflows. This role is explicitly designed as a pathway to senior engineering leadership as they scale.
You'll be responsible for:
* Owning and evolving proprietary coding, validation, and video processing platform.
* Refactoring legacy components into scalable, modern architecture.
* Designing and deploying ML models - anomaly detection, player performance analytics, predictive modelling.
* Integrating AI and LLM capabilities into existing workflows.
* Building internal dashboards and replacing manual reporting with automated systems.
* Providing technical leadership and contributing to sprint planning and delivery.
What We're Looking For
* 3+ years full‐stack software development experience.
* SQL database design and optimisation.
* REST API development and modern front‐end frameworks (React or similar).
* AWS experience and production system deployment.
* Python and hands‐on ML/AI development experience.
Highly regarded
* Experience modernising legacy systems.
* Video processing (FFmpeg or similar)
* SaaS or high‐volume data/analytics platform experience
* AWS certifications (Solutions Architect or ML Specialty)
