Position Overview

This role is to provide Community Development specialist support and facilitation to help individuals, families, the community and the housing and homelessness sector to bring about social change. This role currently supports both the Brisbane (and surrounding LGA's) region and the Moreton Bay region.

As the Community Development Specialist, you are responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating impactful community development initiatives that promote social inclusion, strengthen community connections, and contribute to ending homelessness.

The successful candidate will operate with a high level of independence, providing expert advice, strategic leadership, and capacity-building support to the Queensland Homelessness Leadership Team, service teams, and broader community sector.

The position also involves the development of operational frameworks and templates that support the organisation and wider community in engaging in Community Development practice approaches.

Key Responsibilities

* Utilising developmental practice and deep listening, facilitate spaces and opportunities for individuals to form collective groups through meaningful engagement and activities working towards knowledge and relationship building and creating shared goals.
* Engage in meaningful analysis of developmental work, including synthesising information formed through facilitation to produce reports, summaries and/or further advocacy of group goals and concerns (inclusive of thematic analysis, mapping, etc).
* Lead and organise facilitated groups within the sector working to end homelessness, inclusive of both front line and leadership level initiatives, where possible engaging in co-design with community members directly.
* Lead action based collaborative work resulting from facilitating groups, including connecting group members with other associated organisations, projects or movements and or with necessary additional skills or information.
* Develop and deliver training and workforce development activities for internal staff.
* Provide consultancy services and advise to Leaders in relation to inclusion of Community Development Practice in service design and service delivery, inclusive of producing operational and practice templates/frameworks and contributing to tender submissions and staff development.

What You Bring

* Demonstrated experience in the social services sector, with a strong background in Community Development and group facilitation.
* A relevant tertiary qualification (bachelor's degree, postgraduate, or associate diploma) and significant industry experience.
* In-depth understanding of key frameworks, theories, and practices within the Community Development discipline.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead in collaborative settings.
* Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment.

Mandatory Requirements

* Current QLD Working with Children Check (as the role may involve working in residential youth/family settings).
* A current and valid Driver's Licence.
