Writing WA was established in 2005 as a not-for-profit charity and peak body for writing in Western Australia. Our core purpose is to promote, serve and advocate for writers, illustrators, publishers and other practitioners in the writing sector. Our work includes programs, events, and digital resources.
About the Role
Reporting to the Board of Management, the CEO leads the Writing WA team to implement our strategic plans. This includes:
Developing and implementing operational plansStewardship of the organisation's resources and compliance obligations, including effective record keeping and reporting to the Board and external organisations.Leadership and development of the Writing WA executive teamDeveloping and maintaining positive working relationships with key stakeholders in the writing and publishing sectors, including members, funding bodies, donors, and program partners.Personal management of significant events and initiatives.Maintaining a sound knowledge of current trends and practices within the writing and publishing sectors.Any other duties as determined by the Board.The position is based in Perth, Western Australia, and available on a full-time or part-time basis depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
The Person
To be successful in the role, you will need:
Excellent governance and administration skills, including experience in working with a Board of Management and ensuring compliance with regulatory and funding requirements across all areas of the organisation.Proven ability to deliver on strategic objectives.Experience in managing and developing multi-skilled teams.Proven ability to represent an organisation to key stakeholders, including:Identifying, developing and maintaining positive relationships and partnershipsPublic speakingOverseeing fundraising and philanthropic activities, including winning grants and stewardship of donors.Proven ability to lead and model the values of Writing WA.Experience in, and knowledge of, the local arts and writing sectors.How to Apply
