About the Team
The Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500 km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets. The team works within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia, to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.
About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking safety‑focused, hardworking, rail enthusiasts to join our newly developed teams. This role is a rare and exciting opportunity to be a part of a team working on various projects around the ARTC Interstate Network. The role has a strong focus on contributing to the delivery of various maintenance projects such as re‑railing, undercutting, formation upgrades, vegetation management and other civil works. In order to complete these activities, the safe and efficient operation of specialised machinery such as Hi‑Rail excavators, dump trucks and Front‑End Loaders will be a core requirement. As these are field‑based positions, you will be required to work a variable roster dependent on business needs (e.g., 9 & 5, 10 & 4, 5 & 2) with extensive travel.
Responsibilities
Operate Hi‑Rail excavators, dump trucks and Front‑End Loaders safely and efficiently on the ARTC rail network. Complete a variety of maintenance and civil works projects in a field setting. Adhere to all safety procedures and operational standards. Participate in variable shift rosters and travel as required.

- Construction industry induction (white card)
- Current Driver’s Licence – HR and above highly regarded
- Ability to pass a Category 1 Rail Medical
- Prior experience working in a physically demanding role
