Details: Join the ACT Parks and Conservation Service's Forest Management team and help shape the future of sustainable forestry in the ACT. We are seeking a motivated and collaborative forestry professional to fill a temporary vacancy at the Professional Officer Class 2 (PO2). In this role, you will play a key part in delivering forestry programs that support the ACT community and environment.
You will bring experience in silviculture across the full forest lifecycle - from nursery to final crop - and a strong understanding of Pinus radiata management. Your ability to work respectfully with Traditional Custodians and ecological experts to integrate cultural and environmental values into forest practices will be highly valued.
Responsibilities
* Deliver forestry programs that support the ACT community and environment.
* Apply silvicultural expertise across the full forest lifecycle—from nursery to final crop.
* Apply knowledge of Pinus radiata management.
* Collaborate with Traditional Custodians and ecological experts to integrate cultural and environmental values into forest practices.
Position Details
* Duration: Immediate start for a 12 month contract
* Work type: Full-time or part-time
* Flexible arrangements: Part-time hours across five working days can be considered (e.g. to accommodate school drop-off and pick-up times)
Eligibility/Other Requirements
This position is classified as "Fire Trained Employee" under the ACT Public Sector Technical and Other Professional Enterprise Agreement 2023-2026. Bushfire related activities, including suppression and rostered standby, are essential components of the role.
Notes
This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of 12 months. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. The full-time salary noted above will be pro-rata for part-time hours.
