We are a Structural & Mechanical fabrication company, providing a full range of steel fabrication in light to heavy material projects for the construction & mining sector clients.Full-time, Permanent position available for aWORKSHOP MANAGERto work in our Whyalla facility.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for coordinating and organizing the entire fabrication activities to ensure overall fabrication efficiencies, quality of the final products, and supply within contractual delivery time.DutiesReview the scope of works, drawings, and establish production objectives, standards, and production schedules to ensure quality, timely delivery, and cost-effectiveness.Procurement of materials.Coordinate fabrication activities and troubleshoot problems in the Fabrication Workshop, ensuring work is executed to client specifications.Monitor project status, including fabrication process, production schedules, resource requirements, and execution issues.Ensure consistent implementation of superior structural steel fabrication strategies, practices, and processes.Focus on project production schedules, manufacturing risks, and labor efficiencies.Coordinate with the General Manager on drafting, fabrication, paint shop, and transport activities to meet workloads and deadlines.Review and develop company Occupational Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental awareness among staff to comply with systems and procedures.Identify and manage risks related to fabrication efficiency and quality control.Maintain good supplier relationships through effective communication and ethical behavior.QualificationsApprenticed fabricatorEssential: Strong fabrication knowledgeDesirable: Project management, engineeringExperienceAt least 10 years in a structural steel fabrication workshop environment at a supervisory or management level, with experience in production scheduling, critical date execution, and exposure to various fabrication technologies related to structural steel and mining structures.Personal AttributesAbility to read and interpret shop drawings and engineering specifications.Strong attention to detail.Deep knowledge of structural steel fabrication methods and techniques.Understanding of manufacturing and production environments.Proven planning and scheduling skills in a workshop setting.Ability to work efficiently under pressure and deliver results.Strong leadership qualities and personality.
