About the Opportunity
The Team Leader is responsible for the provision of leadership and supervision to a guardianship team and the promotion of best practice standards in accordance with the principles and legal requirements of the Guardianship and Administration Act 1993 (G&A Act), the Advance Care Directives Act 2013, the Consent to Medical Treatment and Palliative Care Act 1995 and the National Standards of Guardianship – 2016. The role also has a caseload of guardianship matters and activities of a complex nature.

The Office of the Public Advocate is an independent statutory Office of the South Australian Government. This office exists to promote the rights and interests of people who may need assistance with decision making. Public Advocate promotes rights through delivering our services. Services include giving advice, finding alternatives to guardianship, advocacy, investigations, and acting as guardian of last resort. The Office is guided by the principles and requirements of the key legislation and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
Some out of hours work may be required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
Some out of hours work and intra/interstate travel will be required. The work will require participation in after hours on-call roster, which may apply to periods covering daytime, overnight and/or weekends.
