About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join the MSF Sugar team at our South Johnstone Mill, located approximately 10km from Innisfail.
This permanent full-time role offers stability, variety, and the opportunity to grow your payroll career within a supportive and experienced team. The role is well suited to an experienced Payroll Officer or someone earlier in their payroll journey who is eager to learn and develop in a complex, industrial environment.
Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely payroll services for our workforce. You will be responsible for assigned payroll functions and will work collaboratively with the wider payroll team to ensure all payroll obligations are met.
Key Responsibilities
* Process payroll transactions including timesheets, leave, annual increases, onboarding, terminations, reclassifications, and back pay
* Prepare payroll reconciliations and reports including end-of-period, end-of-year, superannuation, Single Touch Payroll, and government reporting
* Understand and apply enterprise bargaining agreements, awards, legislative conditions and company policies and procedures.
* Investigate and resolve payroll queries and discrepancies
* Prepare, analyse, and distribute payroll-related information
* Support other payroll team members as required to meet operational deadlines
About you
We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and committed to accuracy, with a genuine interest in payroll.
You will bring:
* Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, regulations, and procedures (or a strong willingness to learn)
* High attention to detail and strong numeracy skills
* Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills
* Integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
* Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure
* Experience using SAP Payroll System (highly desirable but not essential)
