About the Role
We're recruiting a Category & Insights Manager to join our Commercial Team, managing our Specialty Cheese and Food Service on a contract basis. This is a senior, high‑impact role responsible for owning category strategy, underpinned by strong consumer and category insights, and driving value creation and consumption growth within grocery retail.
This fixed‑term contract runs through to December 2026 and combines Category Management and Insights responsibilities, offering strong exposure across Sales, Marketing and Commercial teams.
Reporting to the Head of Insight & Category, the role sits at the intersection of Category Management, Sales, Marketing and Insights, operating in a fast‑paced environment with competing priorities. Success will be driven by strong commercial thinking, the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insight, and the capability to influence.
Key Responsibilities
* Own category strategy and consumer insights for Specialty Cheese & Food Service, driving value and consumption growth in grocery retail
* Translate complex scan, shopper panel and customer data into clear, compelling and actionable stories for Sales, Marketing, Finance and retail partners
* Lead range reviews end‑to‑end, aligning internal stakeholders and delivering clear, category‑led narratives to retailers
* Provide agnostic, evidence‑based category recommendations to unlock category growth
* Identify and shape the innovation pipeline, from opportunity identification through concept testing and NPD input
* Influence pricing, promotional and portfolio decisions through robust data and insight
* Act as a key connector between Sales and Marketing, balancing priorities and managing stakeholder expectations
About You
You will bring:
* Proven experience in Category Management, Insights, or a hybrid role within FMCG, retail or agency environments
* Hands‑on experience with Circana / Scan / Panel data, including Coles and Woolworths customer data (required)
* Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to connect insight to action and measurable outcomes
* Confidence presenting to senior stakeholders and influencing decisions without direct authority
* The ability to prioritise effectively in a complex, stakeholder‑driven environment
* A collaborative, curious mindset, with enough conviction to drive change
