About the Role
We are seeking 3x skilled Earthmoving Plant Operators to join the regional infrastructure maintenance team based in Broken Hill and the surrounding Far West NSW region. This role is integral to the safe and efficient delivery of road construction, repair, and maintenance works across the network. You'll be operating a variety of plant and equipment, working within a supportive team committed to maintaining high safety and operational standards.
* Plant Operator – $45.69/hour + super
* Location: Broken Hill & Far West NSW
* Start Date: ASAP
* Duration: Until 30 June 2026, with possible extension
* Roster: 9-day fortnight, RDO every second Friday
* Mon - 6am to 4:30pm
Tues - Fri - 6:30am - 4:30pm
* You will receive Living Away from Home Allowance (LAHA) and Accommodation is supplied by this NSW government department when required to stay away overnight for work.
* Willingness to work overtime and attend callouts as needed.
* Ability to perform physically demanding tasks safely and efficiently.
* Must pass a National Police Background Check.
* Commitment to following workplace safety standards and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate a range of plant and machinery including rollers, graders, excavators, loaders, and skid steers
* Perform road maintenance, earthworks, drainage, and general civil construction activities
* Support traffic management and site safety setups as required
* Conduct pre-start checks, routine maintenance, and ensure equipment is in safe working condition
* Optional HR Truck Driving if you have an HR license
* Assist with manual labour tasks such as hand tools and materials handling when required
* Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
* Follow all safety and environmental procedures in accordance with workplace standards
* Collaborate effectively with team members to deliver work programs within schedule
* Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training as required
About You
* Demonstrated experience operating heavy earthmoving plant and equipment within civil, road maintenance, or construction environments
* Proven ability to work safely in remote or regional project settings
* Current driver's licence (mandatory)
* Relevant plant operating and machinery tickets
* HR truck licence and traffic control ticket are highly desirable
* Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork
* Physically fit and able to perform manual duties in outdoor environments
* Flexibility to work away from home as required
* Sound understanding of WHS practices and safety procedures
* Ability to perform physical labour and work effectively in outdoor regional environments
* Reliable, team-oriented, and capable of following directions with minimal supervision
* Current National Police Check (or willingness to undergo prior to commencement)
* Full working rights in Australia – Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid long-term working visa (sponsorship unavailable)
