Job Overview
The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment is seeking a highly skilled professional to fill the role of Principal Compliance Officer. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and enforcing policies related to land clearing on unzoned land under the Planning Act 1999.
Key Responsibilities:
* Developing and implementing environmental compliance programs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
* Providing guidance and support to stakeholders through briefings, guidelines, codes of practice, and fact sheets on native vegetation management
* Exercising responsibilities as an Authorised Officer under the Planning Act 1999 regarding native vegetation management
* Conducting site inspections to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement
Requirements:
* Proven experience in administering legislation and providing expert advice on environmental matters
* Strong project management skills and ability to conduct regulatory investigations
* Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong networks
Qualifications:
* Degree in natural resource management, environmental science, or related field
* Certificate IV in Government Investigations or similar qualification
