About the Role


Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply for this opportunity (under section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984)

Based in Albany, Western Australia, the Management Accountant supports the Finance Manager in delivering sound financial management across the organisation. This includes assistance with budgeting, forecasting, reporting, payroll backup, funding compliance, and preparation for audits. The role operates under the direction of the Finance Manager and ensures financial accuracy, accountability, and timely reporting.


About You


You are a motivated and committed person that essentially has:

* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people.
* A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
* At least 3 years' experience in a finance support or accounting role
* Sound knowledge of accounting systems (e.g. Xero, MYOB) and Excel
* Understanding of payroll legislation and financial compliance
* Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines
* Ability to take direction and work collaboratively within a team environment

And desirably has:

* Experience with funding compliance and audit support.

Mandatory

* Current WA driver's licence.

You must provide before you start:

* A Prior Offender History Check no older than three months.
* A Working with Children Check.


Key Responsibilities


The Management Account is responsible for:

* Financial Operations and Compliance
* Accounts Payable and Receivable Oversight
* Bank and Balance Sheet Reconciliations
* Grant and Project Accounting
* Month-End and Year-End Processes
* Fixed Asset Register Maintenance
* Financial Systems Maintenance and Improvements
* Internal Controls and Compliance Monitoring
* Support for Payroll and Superannuation Processing
* Financial Reporting for Program Managers and Executives
* Assistance with BAS, FBT, and Other Tax Compliance
* Budgeting and Forecasting
* Profit & Loss and Financial Analysis
* Financial Reporting
* Funding Oversight and Grant Management
* Annual Audit Support

* Lead and demonstrate SAC's values in all areas of work activity, promoting a positive workplace culture.
