Mental Health Clinician – Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Clinician such as a Psychologist, Counsellor, Social Worker or Allied Health professional with a registration with a governing body and a minimum of one year's experience providing one‑on‑one counselling.

The Mental Health Clinician will provide mental health counselling to consumers either face‑to‑face or via telehealth. Services will be provided to adult consumers engaged in our Employment Services stream, an initiative of the Workforce Australia program. Brief mental health therapies will be provided to assist consumers to overcome barriers to engaging in employment.

The Mental Health Clinician will manage a caseload ratio that accommodates program KPIs, working within a trauma‑informed and culturally sensitive practice framework. There is an expectation to work collaboratively with team members, other FSA Service Streams, and key stakeholders including other health care professionals and external organisations.

The role is a full‑time position, but accommodations for part‑time could be made for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Minimum of one year's experience providing one‑on‑one counselling in a clinical, educational, or community setting.

Demonstrated ability to collaboratively plan and coordinate individualised interventions.

Demonstrated ability to provide high quality and evidence‑based psychological assessment and intervention via face‑to‑face and telehealth service delivery.

Experience working from a trauma‑informed framework and ensuring a high standard of care, quality assurance, and risk management for all clients.

Demonstrated capacity to manage a caseload with varied and complex presentations.

Robust clinical formulation skills and flexibility in delivery of interventions to meet the dynamic nature of intervention.

Demonstrated capacity to implement principles of reflective practice and self‑care within a team.

Excellent organisation, time management, and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated capacity for proactive liaison with relevant stakeholders.

Current Working with Children Check number.

Qualifications

- Registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), with experience in delivering counselling or psychotherapy.
- Counsellor with a Registration as a Clinical Member of PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia) or Level 2 Member of ACA (Australian Counselling Association).
- Applicants with a Bachelor degree in a related field such as Allied Health or human services, followed by a Master of Counselling, meet this requirement if registered with PACFA or ACA.
- Social Worker with a Bachelor or Master of Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), with demonstrated counselling training and supervised practice in therapeutic settings.
