Description We are currently recruiting a Vegetation Officer – Scoping to join our Operations, People and Safety division. This role reports to the Program Manager and plays a vital role in ensuring vegetation near Essential Energy’s electricity distribution network is managed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and regulatory standards. This role is to be based in Moruya. The Vegetation Officer – Scoping is responsible for inspecting, assessing, and reporting on vegetation conditions, designing treatment solutions, and engaging with stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes that reduce risk to the network and community. Key Responsibilities Inspect and assess vegetation near the network in line with Vegetation Management Requirements. Conduct minor groundline vegetation control, including chemical application. Identify and report non-compliance with safety, environmental, and customer standards. Provide arboriculture advice and specify appropriate treatment methods. Engage with landowners, councils, and other stakeholders to gain access and resolve concerns. Maintain accurate vegetation records and contribute to process improvements. About You As a Vegetation Officer – Scoping, you will bring strong arboriculture knowledge, a safety-first mindset, and a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement. You will be experienced in vegetation management, understand electricity distribution networks, and be confident working both independently and as part of a team. Required Qualifications/Skills Mandatory: Driver’s Licence General Construction Induction Training (White Card) Required: Certificate III in Arboriculture (Works Coordinator specialisation) Certificate II in ESI – Powerline Vegetation Control Chemical Handling & Application certification Experience: Utility vegetation management and arboriculture practices Understanding of electricity distribution networks Customer and stakeholder engagement Use of business systems and digital tools Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills Problem-solving and organisational capabilities Ability to work autonomously and in a team Why Essential Energy We offer competitive remuneration commensurate with skills and experience and 16.5% superannuation.
