About the role

As a Senior Staff Writer at Tennis Australia, you'll be responsible for producing high-quality editorial content that informs, engages and excites tennis fans. From in-depth player profiles to live tournament coverage, feature articles, and breaking news stories, your writing will shape the way Australian and global audiences experience the sport. In this role you will be responsible for:

* Shaping the voice of tennis in Australia with engaging stories across web, print and social
* Covering players, tournaments, and trends year-round — from Grand Slams to grassroots
* Delivering fast, accurate coverage with daily match reports, interviews and analysis
* Crafting long-form features and content for major publications such as the official Australian Open Program and Australian Tennis Magazine
* Collaborating with editorial, digital, and media teams to amplify storytelling across platforms.

About you

To be successful in this role you will be:

* A natural storyteller with 5+ years in journalism — sports and tennis a big plus
* Confident writing across formats: from SEO-optimised web stories to in-depth features
* A strong multitasker who thrives under pressure and loves tight deadlines
* Proactive, creative and collaborative — great with stakeholders, sharp with detail
* Curious and driven to uncover unique angles that connect fans with the game
* Excited to pitch and explore content ideas, with a collaborative approach to ideation
* Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
* Prepared to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia.
