Job Title: Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Abo riginal Mental Health Clinician to join our team. In this rewarding role, you will provide recovery-focused, person-centred and culturally competent services to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal individuals with mental illness, distress and/or risk issues.
This is an identified position in accordance with Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
Key Selection Criteria:
* You must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures with established links with the local Aboriginal community.
* You should hold a Tertiary qualification Bachelor Health Science (Mental Health), or qualifications and current registration with AHPRA for Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers for Social Workers.
* You must be able to provide high quality, safe and connected care to consumers and their families and carers in a person-centred and holistic manner that promotes self-determination and in context of the principles of mental health rehabilitation, recovery framework and a strengths-based approach.
* You should possess high level communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with consumers, their families and carers and other stakeholders.
* You should have high level computer skills including accuracy and demonstrated knowledge of Electronic Medical Record Programs, Microsoft Office Programs including Skype for Business.
* You should demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health & Alcohol and Other Drugs strategic directions in service provision, including those related to Aboriginal People and their communities.
* You should know and understand the legislation and policies relating to Mental Health care provision, including the Mental Health Act 2007.
* You should hold a Current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
