Primary objective
Lead and manage the delivery ofcomplex data warehouse solutions, providing expert technical and architectural advice on the design and
implementation of a contemporary Education Data Warehouse solution.
Context statement
The Education Management Transformation Program (EMTP) will streamline Department of Education systems, improve data quality and
visibility of student journeys through the implementation of a new student-centric system. The position works within the Data Services
division to lead, design and deliver on EMTP's data warehousing requirements.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Develop and maintain architecture models that reflect and align with client agencies strategies and plans and identify opportunities to
improve Customer Service (internal and external) and provide high-level strategic advice for future investment in Digital capabilities.
1. Translate business practices and processes into conceptual designs to enable identification, development and delivery of appropriate
enterprise solutions.
1. Work within an environment where technologies are subject to rapid evolution and change and identify solutions and platforms that
improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall service offering for customers and drive improved value.
4. Own and update architecture and data models and references based on changing business requirements and emerging technologies
and services.
5. Provide expert advice on the analysis, interpretation and utilisation of data held within Enterprise Data Warehouse environments.
6. Lead, design and implement data warehouse solutions, including data modelling and of assessment of technology platforms, to optimise
delivery of business outcomes.
7. Participate in a range of governance committees and forums; and establish strong stakeholder relationships, including client agency
and external parties, to effectively discover, collate and document data and reporting requirements.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Expert knowledge and extensive experience in the design and development of contemporary data warehouses including data modelling
and ETL job design and extraction patterns.
2. Expert level of experience in the design, coding, testing, maintaining and documentation of computer programs, with an emphasis on
Data Warehouse Extract Transform Load (ETL) programming.
1. Demonstrated skills and experience in establishing, maturing and adopting Enterprise Architecture services.
2. Demonstrated high-level communication, interpersonal, collaborative and influencing skills with an ability to manage teams and to
interact effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated ability to provide strategic, tactical and operational level advice regarding systems analysis and design covering user
requirements, functional and technical specifications, data modelling, construction, and implementation.
6. Demonstrated aptitude and capability to effectively managing multiple complex activities concurrently, including researching complex
issues, evaluating options, achieving outcomes within agreed timeframes.

Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Data related field of study.
2. Prior experience in major business system transformation projects.
