About The Role
We’re looking for a technically skilled HME Document Writer to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and task-based risk assessments for a wide range of Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) assets.
This short-term contract is ideal for an engineer with a mechanical trade background or a documentation specialist with extensive HME experience. You’ll work on-site initially to gather data, liaise with maintainers and engineers, and conduct testing observations. Once documentation development begins, remote work is possible with periodic returns to site.

What you’ll do: Key responsibilities…
* Analyse HME equipment and procedures to produce technical SOPs
* Create live testing documents and risk assessments for machine test tasks
* Identify and document ‘no-go’ zones or high-risk steps in each procedure
* Liaise with technicians and engineers to validate procedure accuracy
* Ensure alignment with safety and compliance standards
* Deliver structured, technically sound documentation suitable for field implementation

* Haul Trucks: CAT 789D, 793D, MT4400
* Dozers: CAT D10, D11
* Excavators: Liebherr 9250/9350/9400, CAT 6060, Hitachi EX1200/ZX470/5500
* Loaders: CAT 994
* Graders: CAT 14H, 16M, 24
* Ancillary Equipment: Franna, light vehicles, lighting plants, pumps, tyre handlers, telehandlers, smaller loaders/skid steers
What we’re looking for: About you…
* Engineering or mechanical trade background preferred
* Proven experience writing SOPs or technical maintenance documentation
* Knowledge of HME operation and servicing
* Strong risk assessment and hazard identification skills
* Excellent written communication and attention to detail
* On-site availability (Mudgee) to gather data, with later remote flexibility
* Must have the right to work in Australia
