Our client, a well-established and highly regarded Gastroenterology practice, is seeking an experienced Senior Medical Secretary / Senior Medical Administrator to join their team. Committed to delivering exceptional patient care, they are looking for a dedicated professional who shares their focus on creating a smooth and efficient patient experience.

This is a senior hands‐on administrative role within a busy specialist medical practice, suited to an experienced medical administrator who can work confidently and independently in a fast‐paced environment. The position involves front desk reception, patient communication, appointment and procedure coordination, theatre bookings, patient accounts, correspondence, document management and general practice administration. While senior in nature, the role does not involve people management, staff supervision or rostering responsibilities.

This is a permanent opportunity with flexibility available for either a full‐time candidate working Monday to Friday (38 hours per week) or someone seeking a 9‐day fortnight arrangement. Shifts are rostered between 7:45/8:00am and 5:00pm, in line with clinic requirements. The role is primarily based in Ipswich. While the Specialist performs procedures at St Andrews War Memorial Hospital and The Wesley Hospital, no travel is required and you will remain based at the Ipswich clinic.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:
* Front desk reception and delivery of exceptional patient service
* Management of telephone enquiries, messages and patient communications
* Appointment scheduling, procedure bookings and theatre coordination
* Patient data management and administrative processing using Gentu
* Handling patient accounts, EFTPOS and HICAPS transactions
* Managing referrals, correspondence, scanning, filing and document management
* Liaising with Specialists, hospitals, referrers and other healthcare providers
* Supporting the smooth day‐to‐day coordination and administration of the practice
* Assisting with clinic workflow, patient follow‐up and general practice administration
To be considered for this position, Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
* Previous experience in medical administration, medical reception or specialist practice administration
* Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
* A confident, professional and approachable manner with a strong patient service focus
* Ability to manage competing priorities within a busy specialist medical practice
* Excellent communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
* Confidence using medical software systems; experience with Gentu will be highly regarded
* Reliable, proactive and capable of working independently within a structured practice environment
* A collaborative and adaptable approach with the ability to support a busy clinical team
Remuneration

On offer to the successful candidate is a competitive hourly rate, negotiable based on skills and experience. The practice also has free off‐street parking available as well as ample street parking.
