* Lead a respected, stand alone regional private hospital with purpose and impact
* Scale, accountability and growth opportunity – ~160 beds, broad acute and specialty services, in an independent operating model
* Values led organisation with a strong Board and genuine community connection
St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital comprises approximately 160 beds and operates a diverse service profile spanning acute medical, surgical, oncology and mental health care. The Hospital employs several hundred staff, supported by an engaged Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) cohort, and is led by an established executive team.
As a stand‑alone organisation, the Hospital operates without group buying power, requiring strong commercial discipline, effective stakeholder engagement and clear strategic prioritisation.
The Position
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer is accountable for the overall leadership and performance of the Hospital, spanning clinical governance, safety and quality, financial sustainability, workforce and culture, and execution of strategy.
Key priorities include:
* Leading with collaboration, communication and with a focus on culture
* Strengthening commercial performance and financial discipline in a constrained environment
* Building strong, collegiate relationships with VMOs, clinicians and staff
* Delivering the Strategic Plan while preserving the Hospital’s mission and values
* Positioning St Andrew’s for sustainable, long‑term success as the community’s hospital of choice
This role will suit a senior healthcare executive with proven leadership experience, strong commercial acumen, high clinical awareness, and a listening‑led, collaborative style. Experience in private/private NFP hospitals or complex healthcare organisations is strongly preferred.
The Organisation
St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital is a stand‑alone, not‑for‑profit private hospital serving the Darling Downs and broader regional Queensland community. Guided by a strong faith‑based heritage and values, the Hospital provides acute and specialist services including oncology, surgical services, mental health, medical and allied health care.
As the only independent not‑for‑profit private hospital in the region, St Andrew’s plays a critical role within the local health ecosystem, partnering closely with clinicians, community providers and public services to meet the evolving health needs of its population.
The Hospital is operating within a challenging private health environment and has a clear 2024–27 Strategic Plan focused on cultural renewal, operational excellence, financial sustainability and disciplined growth.
