About the Role:
Forensicare provide mental health services in prisons across Victoria, including Melbourne Assessment Prison, Dame Phyllis Frost Centre and the Metropolitan Remand Centre.
The Operations Manager – Public Prisons provides leadership of all prison-based operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality direct care services and programs.
This position will be based at Derrimut and directly reports to the Executive Director of Prison Operations.
Duties:
- Manages and leads the delivery and development of Forensicare’s prison mental health services.
- Provides leadership, advice, line supervision and mentoring to direct reports.
- Manages the human and financial resources allocated to public prison services.
- Manages the day-to-day contract requirements with Justice Health and is responsible for the submission of monthly reporting data, and the drafting of ‘Quarterly’, ‘Six Monthly’ and Annual Reports in partnership with senior contracts advisor.
- Develops and monitors a contract management plan.
- Contributes to the development of forensic specific clinical standards of practice, including clinical competencies.
- Participates in negotiations with Justice Health regarding service provision.
- Coordinates and monitors the development and implementation of orientation programs and career development plans for direct reports, in consultation with discipline seniors.
About You:
- This is a Multidisciplinary position, requiring an approved qualification in either Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therpay, Clinical or Forensic Psychology.
- Minimum of 10 years experience post qualification.
- Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery.
- Professional background in management roles with demonstrated success in service improvement in mental health settings.
- Experience of leadership in change management and service development in a complex organisational environment.
- Sound financial management experience including understanding and operating with detailed budgets.
