Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Government Relations Officer on a contract for 12 months with potential extension.
Position Overview
The APS6 Government Relations Officer (Labour Hire) is a team membership position that may be required to perform work that involves team leadership and management responsibilities requiring the setting of priorities and managing workflows of a team.
The APS6 Government Relations Officer (Labour Hire) is required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the NDIA's objectives to "build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme".
The position will have a considerable level of public contact in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues. It is required to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a representational role on behalf of the branch/division/NDIA.
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Developing and managing project plans for jurisdictional governance meetings and events in accordance with the Agency's project management framework.
- Providing specialist advice and technical expertise to staff and stakeholders.
- Performing independent research work and analysis including the preparation of draft reports, including on relevant governance activities.
- Coordinating regular governance project reporting including status updates.
- Preparing draft written material including business cases, plans, executive briefs and corporate documentation.
- Contributing to project quality management of governance tasks to ensure that deliverables are fit for purpose and meet client needs.
- Maintaining the register of actions, issues and risks arising from trilateral forums and prepare progress reports for the senior executive.
Analysing information from a variety of sources to identify and monitor emerging themes relevant to the work of the NDIA or its participation in the intergovernmental forums.
