About the Team
The Australian National Phenome Centre (ANPC) is a world‐class facility led by Murdoch University focused on high‐throughput targeted and exploratory metabolic phenotyping. Located on Level 3 of the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research adjacent to Fiona Stanley Hospital, the ANPC hosts one of the world's largest collections of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) instruments, including a 800MHz NMR with cryoprobe, seven 600MHz NMRs, a 400MHz FoodScreener NMR and two benchtop NMRs.
Your New Role
This is a key leadership position at the ANPC. The NMR Lead provides operational and technical leadership across all NMR activities, ensuring high‐quality data generation, instrument uptime, and compliance with ISO/IEC accreditation standards. The role requires extensive experience in NMR modalities, quality assurance, and people leadership focused on training and mentorship. The NMR Lead is the data signatory for the NMR pipeline, shares facilities management responsibility with the ANPC Head of Facility and the MS Lead, and ensures safe, efficient, and streamlined operations across physical and digital domains.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide scientific, technical, and operational leadership for all NMR activities, ensuring high‐quality data generation, method excellence, and continuous improvement.
* Oversee NMR instrumentation, maintenance, calibrations, installations, and lifecycle management; act as deputy facilities manager to maintain safe, compliant, and high‐uptime infrastructure.
* Establish and enforce rigorous QC frameworks, contribute to ISO/IEC accreditation, and manage NMR‐related scheduling, budgets, procurement, and resource prioritisation.
* Lead training, mentoring, and access for staff and users to ensure safe, efficient, and effective use of NMR facilities across multiple projects.

Qualifications
PhD in Chemistry, Metabolomics, or a related field with more than 5 years of experience in a high‐throughput analytical facility focused on NMR Spectroscopy.
* Extensive knowledge and experience in NMR and analytical facility infrastructure management.
* Strong NMR data QA/QC experience.
* Background in design and implementation of production‐grade NMR data generation and informatics pipelines.
* Highly effective project management and client liaison skills.
