The Role
Are you ready to make a real impact in mining safety? Coronado is looking for a Safety Health Management System Specialist to join the fast-paced, dynamic team at our Curragh Complex. This is your chance to play a key role in driving safe, sustainable growth in one of the world's leading metallurgical coal operations.
In this role, you'll be at the heart of safety and risk innovation, continuously improving our SHMS and Risk Management systems, and ensuring our operations are not just compliant—but leading the industry.
What You'll Do
* Monitor, review, and update SHMS documents to ensure they reflect current priorities, best practices, and legal requirements.
* Facilitate risk assessments in line with S10 requirements, helping to identify hazards and implement measures that keep our people and operations safe.
* Develop new SHMS documents that not only meet compliance standards but also support more effective and practical safety processes.
* Improve the legislative compliance of safety documents by introducing verification processes and quality checks that make the systems more reliable.
* Proactively schedule and plan SHMS document reviews so nothing is overlooked, keeping safety management seamless and up to date.
* Prepare comprehensive compliance reports and manage non-compliance issues, turning findings into actionable improvements that enhance safety culture.
* Oversee SHMS documents, records, and compliance registers, ensuring governance is maintained at the highest standard and processes run smoothly.
Qualifications And Skills
* Mining experience, with exposure to SHMS and experience in developing and delivering training.
* Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, along with an unwavering commitment to enhancing safety outcomes.
* Knowledge of statutory laws and regulations governing open-cut coal mining.
* Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
* Exposure to Critical Controls, Fatal Hazards & Explosives compliance protocols (Qld) would be well regarded.
