Registrar Haematology (Clinical Registrar)
Fixed term 6‐month Haematology Clinical Registrar position at the Launceston General Hospital, Launceston, Tasmania. Commencing 13 July 2026 – 29 January 2027. The role is supported by a team of 5.4 FTE consultant haematologists, 1 BPT ward registrar, 2 ward RMOs and a Laboratory Advanced Trainee.
Responsibilities
* Provide a consultative haematology service with the on‐call Haematologist for inpatients at LGH and provide phone advice for GPs and rural hospitals.
* Attend regular outpatient clinics under the supervision of Consultant Haematologists.
* Assist in the assessment and management of ambulatory haematology patients requiring treatment within the WP Holman Clinic outpatient facility.
* Advise, mentor and oversee junior medical staff caring for inpatient haematology patients, including participation in the on‐call roster with Consultant support.
* Participate in local research projects and clinical trials.
Team and Service Context
The Northern Cancer Service delivers comprehensive cancer care to the population of Northern/North West Tasmania (≈250 000 people). Haematology services are delivered in an integrated, multi‐disciplinary setting, combining medical and radiation oncology, haematology and palliative care on site. The range of conditions managed includes malignant and benign haematology in both inpatients and outpatients. Apheresis and stem cell collection are performed on‐site, and after‐care from day 100 onward is transferred from Melbourne to local Tasmanian haematologists.
The Haematology service at Launceston General benefits from state‐of‐the‐art imaging (CT, MRI, PET) and access to a dedicated Clinical School training site. Teaching and research are encouraged, and the Holman Clinic hosts a number of clinical trials and registries, which will involve the successful applicant in patient care and reviews.
Appointment Details
* Fixed‐term, full‐time, day worker – up to 76 hours per fortnight.
* 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro‐rata.
* Salary: Medical Practitioner Level 5‐11 – $134,930 – $189,005 per annum (pro‐rata) + 12 % superannuation. Salary range consistent with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.

Qualifications – Essential Criteria
* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
