Bellevue Gold – Heritage and Community Superintendent

The Heritage and Community Superintendent is responsible for providing remote and on-ground support in ensuring the protection of cultural heritage, compliance with applicable legislation and agreements, and engagement with native title holders.

Responsibilities

* Assist in the successful implementation of the Native Title Agreement and Cultural Heritage Management Plan (CHMP).
* Manage compliance with all obligations under the Native Title Agreement and CHMP.
* Conduct audits of processes implemented under Native Title Agreements, develop and implement improvement plans.
* Manage reporting and notification requirements under the Native Title Agreement and CHMP.
* Prepare documentation required to be prepared under the Native Tile Agreement and CHMP.
* Provide guidance and education to all staff on day-to-day cultural heritage management requirements.
* Register and update information in GIS databases relating to the CHMP.
* Management of all ground disturbance in relation to heritage areas identified in the CHMP.
* Develop and maintain good relations with Traditional Owner Groups and other stakeholders.
* Organise and coordinate on country meetings, heritage surveys and ceremonies with the heritage group.
* Organise heritage surveys and regional support (i.e. travel, ATO forms, Traditional Owner payments).
* Be point of contact to build relationships and liaise and consult with relevant stakeholders (including Native Title Parties, Traditional Owner Groups, Heritage Consultants, National Indigenous Australians Agency, Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, underlying land holders, Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and Main Roads).
* Review, development and management of heritage policy and procedures.
* Develop and implement a community engagement plan.
* Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, events, and focus groups to gather feedback, share information, and foster dialogue on relevant issues.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities and stakeholders.
* Raise the profile of Bellevue Gold in the wider community.
* Facilitate meetings of, and act on outcomes from, the sponsorship committee.
* Serve as a resource and advocate for community members.
* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that community perspectives are integrated into program development, decision-making, and evaluation processes.
* Assist in the development of and distribute community centred communication materials.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement efforts, collecting data and feedback to inform continuous improvement and decision-making.
* With support from HR and on-site staff manage indigenous trainees and the traineeship program.
* Coordinate, Represent and participate in events in the community

Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience

* Relevant Tertiary qualifications, or considerable experience in a similar role
* Highly skilled written and verbal communication, literacy, numeracy and presentation skills
* Well-developed interpersonal skills
* Understanding of GIS tools and systems (in particular QGIS)
* High attention to detail
* Ability to work to deadlines and independently
* Experience with Aboriginal community engagement
* Experience in working with relevant Government Departments
* Experience with, and strong understanding of, Heritage and Native Title legislation
* Ability to independently develop and implement management strategies
