Laynhapuy Homelands Aboriginal Corporation (LHAC) is a not-for-profit member-based organisation with over 40 years of history. Incorporated with ORIC in 2012, it previously operated as an association. Laynhapuy provides essential services across 30 homeland communities, including primary healthcare, NDIS support, aged care, housing, municipal services, and community services. It also runs the Yirralka Rangers program.

About the role:
We are recruiting a Finance Officer to support our Darwin office. The role involves responsibilities such as bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, month-end and year-end activities, GST reporting, leasing, asset management, project support, and acquittals, with a focus on internal controls and financial compliance.
The Finance Officer will assist the accountant with tasks including:
* Accounts payable & receivable processing, ensuring timely and accurate invoice handling and query resolution.
* Maintaining effective internal controls and transparency.
* Preparing supplier payment runs with complete supporting documentation.
* Reconciling subsidiary modules to the general ledger monthly.
* Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
* Managing grants files.
* Processing and reconciling Aged Care and NDIS claims.
* Preparing monthly transaction reports and purchase order reports.
* Generating month-end GL journals and reconciliations.
* Asset reconciliation and control.
* Supporting other finance tasks and projects as needed.
Selection Criteria:
To succeed, you should demonstrate:
* 3-5 years of relevant finance or accounting experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Resilience and flexibility, with the ability to work independently and in a team.
* Highly motivated, organized, and results-driven, capable of managing competing priorities.
* Attention to detail, persistence, and proactiveness.
* Willingness to apply previous experience, skills, and embrace new challenges.
* Formal accounting qualifications with IPA, CPA, CA or willingness to attain these.
* Initiative to suggest and implement improvements.
* Advanced MS Excel skills; experience with Power Query and Power BI is advantageous but not essential.
* Experience with Synergy accounting software is advantageous but not essential.
* Ability to obtain NT Ochre Card / National Police Check.
* Experience in a finance role within a not-for-profit sector is preferred.
