Warringu has provided shelter and safety to women and children escaping domestic family violence situations for over 35 years in Cairns. We have recently embarked on a journey to expand our services to ensure our clients receive the best level of care, have access to the required support services, are provided with assistance to build strong and healthy relationships, and education to look after themselves and their families to break unhealthy cycles and live a life free of violence.
About the Opportunity
Warringu has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Practitioner DFSV to provide a holistic domestic violence response to clients by establishing specialist case management plans for women and their children who access our service as a result of domestic family and / or sexual violence.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have :
* A relevant tertiary qualification in health or social sciences and at least 5 years of experience in DFSV.
* Blue Card – Suitability for Child-Related Employment.
Selection Criteria
* Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, coach, and develop a team, as well as work effectively in a team environment to achieve organizational and client goals.
* Proven ability to anticipate and resolve problems.
* Awareness and understanding of issues affecting women and children experiencing domestic or family violence and homelessness, with sensitivity to their needs, particularly for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander women and children.
* High-level written and spoken communication skills, including liaising with government and non-government agencies to advocate for clients.
* Experience in delivering complex case management and contemporary practices for working with women and children escaping family and / or sexual violence, including knowledge of cultural differences and intersectional issues.
