The Role

The Youth Access Coordinator providesa highly quality, early intervention response to young people and their families seeking support. This will require you to provide assessment, psychological intervention and care coordination to young people and their families including the facilitation of referral to other community services as appropriate.

Provide initial engagement, bio-psychosocial (HEADSS) assessment, psychological intervention and care coordination for young people and their families.

Assess, plan and provide individually tailored one-to-one psychological intervention appropriate to young person needs.

Monitor high-risk clients and ensure prompt appropriate assessment, management and follow up support is provided.

Participate in family consultations to maintain supportive relationships between young people and their family, where appropriate, and with the young person's consent.

Provide information, support and psycho-educational content to young people and families accessing the service via phone and walk-ins.

Undertake the intake process for new referrals, including management of duty register, allocation and follow up, as requested.

The Successful Candidate will

Possess relevant tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and registration with an appropriate professional body such as AHPRA, AASW or PACFA.

Minimum of 1 years’ experienceworking in a clinical environment with young people living with mild to moderate mental health issues including completion of mental health assessments, cognitive behavioral interventions, interpersonal psychotherapy and family-based interventions.

Demonstrated experience in clinical care of young people presenting with various mental health presentations including, but not limited to, anxiety and depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation and co-morbidities such as alcohol and other drug issues; young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness; young people identifying as LGBTI; and young people with other barriers to accessing mental health support.

Demonstrated working knowledge of contemporary models and methods of supporting young people living with mental illness.

Requirement for Employment

A current National Police Clearance

A current Working with Children’s Check

Current eligibility to work within Australia

A current Western Australian driver’s license and vehicle.
