About The Hospital
Armidale Rural Referral Hospital is a level 4 facility featuring four state‑of‑the‑art operating theatres, day surgery, ED, CCU and more—part of the recent Armidale Hospital Redevelopment. You'll be at the centre of a broad elective surgical program and a responsive emergency service.

Clinical Scope
As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you'll provide comprehensive anaesthetic services across elective, urgent, and emergency procedures, with peri‑operative clinic responsibilities shared on a rotating basis.
* Orthopaedics: hip and knee replacements, trauma surgery, and general orthopaedic procedures
* General Surgery: laparoscopic cholecystectomy, bowel resections, hernia repairs, skin lesion excisions and gastro‑enterology cases
* Obstetrics & Gynaecology: epidural analgesia for labour and anaesthesia for caesarean section
* Urology: endoscopic and elective procedures
* Dental Surgery

* Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme: up to $10,000 in year 1 plus up to $10,000 per year thereafter (pro‑rata for part‑time Staff Specialist role)

Expedited Specialist Pathway
International Medical Graduates eligible for the Expedited Specialist Pathway can gain recognition and commence practice sooner. This pathway is currently available in Anaesthesia and other specified specialties. Eligibility requires a Specialist qualification listed on the Australian Medical Board's Expedited Specialist Pathway list, with registration under the specialist route after six months of supervised practice.
