Are you seeking a rewarding and diverse Carer Lived Experience Worker (Peer Support) role in a leading regional hospital? Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for a Carer Lived Experience Worker (CLEW) (Peer Support) to join our growing team on a temporary part-time basis.

About the Role

As a Carer Lived Experience Worker, you will draw on your personal experience of supporting someone through mental health challenges to provide meaningful peer support to carers, families and supporters.

You will build authentic, empathetic relationships by purposefully sharing your lived experience, helping others feel understood, supported and empowered. Your work will support carers to navigate the mental health system, strengthen their confidence, and foster hope in recovery.

This is a non-clinical role and an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing lived experience perspectives to enhance service delivery and outcomes.

About you

What You Will Be Doing

In this role, you will:

* Provide peer-based emotional and practical support to carers and families
* Use your lived experience to build connection, trust and hope
* Support carers to navigate services and access community supports
* Assist carers to self-advocate and participate in care and decision-making
* Facilitate or contribute to peer groups, workshops and activities
* Partner with multidisciplinary teams to improve carer engagement
* Support families during transitions, including inpatient to community care
* Promote the voice, needs and perspectives of carers within the service
* Accurately document interactions in line with organisational requirements

About You

You are compassionate, self-aware and committed to supporting others through shared experience. You understand the impact of mental health challenges on families and bring a strong belief in recovery and hope.

You will also bring:

* Lived experience supporting someone through mental health challenges and recovery
* Ability to safely and purposefully share your story to support others
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* A collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams
* Understanding of lived experience/peer work principles
* Good organisational and time management skills

Requirements

* Current driver's licence
* Police Check and Working with Children Check
* Willingness to complete Intentional Peer Support training
* Certificate IV in Peer Work or Mental Health (or willingness to obtain)
