Raising Literacy Australia is a not-for-profit organisation committed to enriching children’s lives through everyday literacy.
Through our programs, we:
o Encourage reading for all,
o Build awareness of the importance of reading to young children from birth,
o Support family engagement through activities such as regular reading, playing, singing, and talking,
o Develop children’s literacy and numeracy skills prior to entering formal education,
o Improve government, corporate, community and early childhood sector’s understanding of early childhood development through education and training and
o Foster a lifelong appreciation of books and reading
We also run our own children’s picture book publishing house, Little Book Press.
Position
Primary duties and responsibilities
Administrative Duties
o Email and phone monitoring
o Office management including fire safety, insurance, security systems, postage, cleaning
o Maintain office supplies and inventory
Finance and Accounts Support
o Generate quotes and invoices using Xero
o Follow up overdue invoices for payment
o Manage banking post and cheques
Community Development
HR Support
o Coordinate staff inductions
o Coordinate interviews
o Assist with drafting employment contracts
o Maintain employee records
Executive Assistance
o Provide administrative support to executives, including calendar management and travel arrangements
o Co-ordinate events/functions for the organisation
o Serve as a liaison between executives and external stakeholders
o Secretariat support to Board
Distribution Operations
o Manage data and facilitate distribution of Words Grow Minds Baby and Preschool reading packs
Little Book Press Publishing Support
o Assist with quotes and purchase orders
o Fill and distribute orders and invoice
o Liaise with authors and illustrators
Skills and Attributes
Our ideal candidate will need:
o Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
o Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a senior administrative role
o Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word, and confident in learning and applying new systems and technologies
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong people skills
o Demonstrated collaborative behaviours, an ability to work in a small team or individually
o A passion for early childhood development, literacy, and social inclusion
o An abundance of energy, commitment, and a sense of humour
This is a full-time position, $70 – 80k dependent on skills and experience.
