We are looking for a Senior Business Development Engineer to connect our industry‐leading engineered building solutions with the technical influencers shaping how buildings are designed and constructed across Australia.
This is a unique, outward‐facing role combining engineering expertise, commercial acumen, and relationship building—ideal for someone who enjoys influencing outcomes across the residential, multi‐res and mid‐rise building supply chain.
About the role
In this role, you will represent MiTek's capabilities to engineers, architects, builders, regulators, and fabricators—helping commercialise MiTek solutions through prefabrication, supply, and service channels across Australia.
You'll act as a trusted technical advisor, educator, and connector, ensuring MiTek's engineered building systems are understood, specified, and adopted where they deliver the greatest value.
Key responsibilities
* Build strong relationships with engineers, architects, and technical decision‐makers across the building supply chain
* Promote MiTek engineered building systems and solutions beyond direct customers
* Enable collaboration between MiTek, fabricators, and builders to support better building outcomes
* Identify technical market needs and align them to existing or future MiTek capabilities
* Develop and deliver technical education and presentations in partnership with Marketing
* Represent MiTek at industry events, seminars, and forums
* Collaborate with MiTek technical development teams on testing, analysis, and solution development
What we are looking for
* Degree or diploma in Structural Engineering, Architecture, or similar
* 5+ years' experience in residential building construction
* Strong preference for timber truss & frame experience
* Excellent communication and relationship‐building skills
* Self‐driven, adaptable, and commercially minded
* Willing to travel regularly within region
Technical knowledge (highly regarded)
* AS 1720, AS 1684, AS 4440, AS 4055, AS/NZS 1170
* NZS 3603, NZS 3604
* Revit or other CAD tools (beneficial, not essential)
