Our team of Cultural Consultants work as SEWB (Social and Emotional Wellbeing) Practitioners / Behaviour Support Practitioners and are key members of a multidisciplinary team, providing flexible, culturally intelligent consultancy to people with disabilities, youth, adults involved with the justice system, and children in out-of-home care. Focusing on a holistic approach, they help empower clients and make a meaningful impact.
SAL Consulting Group considers that being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under sub-s 35(1)(b)(ii) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996.
This position will involve, but is not limited to:
* Developing as an SEWB framework specialist and engaging in ongoing internal training to maintain registration as a Behaviour Support Practitioner (core practitioner),
* Working in partnership with SAL Consulting practitioners to ensure culturally appropriate services for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients,
* Using the SEWB framework to support clients, families, and carers in identifying cultural, spiritual, social, and wellbeing needs,
* Providing cultural guidance to the multidisciplinary team to promote awareness and sensitivity,
* Maintaining comprehensive notes and sharing appropriate information and reports,
* Providing SEWB consultancy in various settings including in-home, community, schools, clinics, or via telehealth,
* Developing resources and strategies to enhance clients' quality of life,
* Attending care team meetings and providing culturally safe input,
* Training care teams to understand clients' stories more deeply.
The role is suitable for both experienced SEWB Practitioners and those with less experience, as we focus on individual strengths to tailor caseloads, supervision, and training.
While our primary work location is Darwin, opportunities are available regionally (Katherine, Alice Springs) and in remote communities (Gunbalanya, Maningrida, Ramingining).

* Experience or interest in working with people with disabilities and/or trauma,
* Reliability and organizational skills, especially in workload management,
* Language skills are highly regarded.
