Team
Our Biomedical Engineering team ensures the smooth operation of medical equipment across hospitals and regional health centres throughout Tasmania. With a regional presence in the South, North, and North West, our team operates cohesively within a statewide structure. The team provides onsite support for managing all medical equipment, including acceptance and compliance testing, as well as routine and corrective maintenance services, thereby contributing to better health outcomes for the Tasmanian community.
Role
We are seeking a Technical Officer for our team's activities in the North West region, with a specific focus on managing the biomedical inventory at Mersey Community Hospital and North West Regional Hospital. The incumbent will participate in and contribute to a broad range of activities at both the workshop and clinical levels. Responsibilities include hands‑on repair and compliance testing, managing service agreements and contractors, and providing specialised technical advice on biomedical equipment, ensuring compliance with all relevant documentation and data requirements.

Qualifications
Sound understanding of instrumentation principles and recognised experience in electronic fault finding and repair, including computer‑controlled systems and devices. Demonstrated communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with a range of health‑care workers. Demonstrated ability to work both individually and as part of a team in an environment subject to change.

Details of Appointment
• Permanent, full‑time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
• Application process may be used to fill subsequent or similar vacancies for a period of twelve months.
• Salary: $81,915 to $94,263 per annum (plus 12% superannuation).
• Salary packaging includes living expenses up to $9,010 and meal entertainment up to $2,650 per FBT year.

Eligibility
Successful applicants will meet the essential criteria. Requirements include a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electronic or Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification. A current driver's licence is essential. Participation in an on‑call roster and intrastate travel are required. Optional desirable criteria may include additional experience in biomedical engineering.
