They are currently seeking a highly skilled Billing Operations Engineer to ensure the integrity and efficiency of our critical billing systems.
You will manage bill runs, direct debits, renewals, and IPND feeds while proactively identifying and resolving errors.
This technical position requires deep expertise in MySQL and Perl scripting.
You will drive automation to reduce manual effort, optimize databases for performance, and collaborate across engineering and finance teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Responsibilities
Execute and monitor critical billing processes, including bill runs, direct debits, renewals, and adjustments on schedule.
Monitor for errors or exceptions during billing cycles and ensure timely resolution to minimize customer impact.
Manage IPND feeds and other regulatory compliance requirements.
Manage and optimize MySQL databases for efficient storage and retrieval of billing data.
Utilize Perl and Shell scripting to automate key billing processes and reduce manual workloads.
Design custom tools and scripts to monitor recurring operations and generate actionable insights.
Configure and deploy changes to support new services, pricing models, and business requirements.
Generate detailed billing reports for data validation, auditing, and compliance.
Collaborate with Product, Finance, and Support teams to resolve complex billing inquiries and align processes with organizational goals.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
Experience: 4+ years in billing operations, system administration, or similar technical roles.
Database: Strong experience in MySQL management, including creating and optimizing complex queries.
Scripting: Proficiency in Perl scripting and Shell scripting is a must for this role.
Domain Knowledge: Expertise in billing assurance (bill runs, invoicing, payments) and familiarity with financial workflows.
Nice to Have
Experience with subscription-based or SaaS billing models.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Confluence.
This role is a day rate contract of $850 - $875 + Super per day for a 12 month contract.
It can be based in Sydney or Canberra.
