In this role, you'll:
Join the Legal and Governance team, and this role will see you lead and supervise a small team of lawyers in providing liability, litigation, and claims advice to Transport for NSW and other Transport agencies, including Sydney Trains and NSW Trains.
In this role you will lead, oversee and provide expert and solution focussed legal services in the field of civil and public liability litigation, claims and disputes, and inquiries. You will have regard to statutory iinterpretation, legal research, instructions and fact finding to inform expert legal advice and identify and address legal risk.
This highly collaborative role will see you engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders and insurers and brief external lawyers as part of managing complex claims.
You will model the highest standards of integrity and professional conduct.
This is a Maternity Leave position up until March 2027.

About you
You are an experienced civil and public liability litigation lawyer with demonstrated knowledge and expertise in public liability claims, litigation and disputes, and inquiries and hold a current unrestricted practising certificate in NSW with 5 plus years relevant post qualification experience.
Experience in advising on the Civil Liability Act, and the laibility of NSW Government agencies is preferred.
You will have advanced written communication skills and be able to draft succinct and well structured documents.
You will also have excellent verbal communication and stakeholder management skills and be able to convey technical legal concepts clearly.
You will have exceptional time management skills and be able to manage a demanding workload with competing and, at times, urgent priorities.
You are able to work collaboratively with other team members, and closely with internal clients to provide solutions focused legal support.
