Amber's Tutelage is a unique, holistic, personalised tuition business located in Wanguri, NT. We are looking for Teacher Assistants to support clients in our continually growing business. Amber's Tutelage provides one-on-one support for our learners in a fun and friendly environment. Our clients range from pre-school age through to adult learners, and our Teacher Assistants are flexible with providing support for all ages. Amber's Tutelage specialises in providing learning support for clients on the NDIS, and the ideal candidate will have experience supporting children with their learning in English, Maths and the sciences in unique ways. This position is perfect for pre-service teachers.
About the role:
* Teacher Assistant (TA) role working one-on-one with primary and secondary school-aged clients who require extra support in their learning.
* Between 12-30 hours a week, predominantly in the evenings (2:45pm-7pm weekdays, 8:45am-2pm Saturdays).
* This position is onsite ONLY.
Main duties and responsibilities:
* Creating & implementing dynamic and engaging session plans that support learners.
* Identifying potholes (gaps) in clients' learning and providing relevant materials to help overcome these challenges.
* Assisting clients to complete school homework.
* Creating resources tailored to the learning needs of the clients.
* Supporting and encouraging clients to confront challenges head on, to build confidence and self-esteem.
* Cleaning duties in line with WHS & Covid-safe measures.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Sound English and Maths capabilities (minimum Year 12 Essential English and Essential Maths) &/or completed senior secondary schooling in Biology/ Physics/ Chemistry/ General Sciences
* Fluent written and spoken English proficiency
* Current qualifications in Education or be working towards a teaching qualification (E.g. studying a Bachelor of Education)
* Proficiency using Microsoft Office computer programs
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a confident, professional manner
* Adaptability and creativity to think on your feet and keep clients engaged with their learning
* Previous experience with ASD clients highly regarded, but not essential
* Flexible work hours that suit the needs of the clients
Essential Requirements:
* A current OCHRE card (or ability to attain one) in line with legal education requirements
* Completion of Year 12 English and Maths, and the sciences (where relevant)
* Valid Australian work authorisation is required for this position
