Data Architect - 12 month contract
Your new company
An organisation undergoing a major multi‑year digital modernisation program, focused on replacing legacy systems with a contemporary, scalable digital platform. The environment is transforming rapidly, with a strong emphasis on data quality, interoperability and long‑term architectural maturity.
Your new role
As the Data Architect, you will serve as the organisation's authoritative expert on data architecture across discovery, design, development and go‑live phases. You will work closely with program leadership, engineering teams and product owners to define and govern the data architecture required to support a new enterprise platform. This role also includes guiding junior data resources and partnering with business and technical stakeholders to ensure the data landscape is strategically aligned and future‑ready.
What you'll need to succeed
* Data architecture design:
Define and lead the development of enterprise data architecture, including data models, integration patterns and platform data services. Ensure architectural decisions support scalability, performance, security and long-term maintainability.
* Data governance:
Establish and maintain data governance standards, ensuring data assets comply with architectural principles and organisational policies. Collaborate with data owners and governance leads to maintain consistency and quality.
* Stakeholder communication:
Act as the primary data architecture subject-matter expert for delivery teams and senior stakeholders. Provide clear communication on architectural trade‑offs, data model decisions and technical direction. Oversee vendor architectural alignment.
* Transition & decommissioning:
Architect and support data migration strategies, ensuring legacy systems transition smoothly to the new platform. Contribute to go‑live planning and ensure technical readiness and compliance.
* Hypercare & run state:
Design and support the establishment of long‑term data maintenance and operational models, ensuring continuity, ownership and architectural integrity post go‑live.
What you'll get in return
* A pivotal architectural role shaping the data foundations of a major digital transformation.
* Influence across senior stakeholders and the opportunity to define data standards, governance and long‑term architectural direction.
* Exposure to complex migration, integration and platform‑modernisation challenges.
* A collaborative environment where your expertise directly impacts organisational capability and future digital success.
