Job Opportunity: Engineer at Chubb
Chubb, a global leader in insurance, is seeking an experienced Engineer to support our Construction underwriting team in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. This role aims to enhance underwriting profitability and develop new business opportunities through expert engineering advice.
Location: Based in Australia, in Sydney or Melbourne, reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager for APAC.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop comprehensive reviews for large industrial construction projects worldwide, ensuring compliance with Chubb's engineering standards.
2. Collaborate with regional engineers on peer reviews and conduct on-site inspections to monitor project progress and assess risks.
3. Design tools to optimize risk management and reduce financial exposure.
4. Evaluate significant construction losses in the APAC portfolio, ensuring accurate data entry for analysis.
5. Support and train risk engineers and underwriters to improve risk assessment skills.
6. Stay updated on industry practices and standards, fostering continuous professional development.
7. Maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and the insurance market to uphold Chubb's reputation.
8. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and streamline workflows.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree in Civil or Industrial Engineering.
* At least ten years of hands-on engineering experience, especially in heavy industry construction such as Power Generation or Oil & Gas projects.
* Experience in insurance engineering (2-5 years) is advantageous.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Enthusiasm for tackling new challenges with a client-focused approach.
