In this role, you'll join Transport for NSW's newly established Asset and Prioritisation team where you will lead and manage a team of engineers and technical specialists. The team provides expert technical advice and support across all modes of transport and asset classes, including traction substations, high‑voltage feeders, overhead wiring systems, traction power network modelling, and renewable energy integration.
This unique role operates under delegated technical authority from the Professional Head Energy Networks & Systems and contributes to the development, governance, and continuous improvement of engineering standards. Transport is undergoing a pivotal transformation journey and this role provides the opportunity to look ahead at emerging technologies to ensure safe, reliable and sustainable outcomes are reached for our electrical infrastructure.
You will play a key role in harmonising standards, specifications and technical requirements across modes, and where relevant other jurisdictions. You will work with industry to improve consistency, efficiency, interoperability, safety and sustainability.

About You
You are a technically credible leader with a relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent. You bring demonstrated experience and expertise in electrical traction systems and renewable energy integration for transport assets.
Your experience will include providing authoritative technical advice on complex engineering matters, maintaining strong working knowledge of engineering standards across the asset group and developing and maintaining technical documents, specifications and guidelines.
You possess a solid knowledge base of engineering standards across the asset group and a demonstrated ability to remain current with industry developments, international standards and emerging technologies to incorporate innovation and change into TfNSW Standards and support continuous improvement.
Your exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, along with your ability to influence, enable you to effectively engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
You will have proven experience as an electrical engineer supporting a mode of transport or within an operational area of a transport related organisation that operates public transport systems on behalf of an authority. You will also possess a strong understanding of traction power systems.
Your expertise will include leading or contributing to strategic technical initiatives, supporting harmonisation activities including building effective relationships and liaising with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
