Nursing Education Coordinator – Surgery
Location: On site at The Royal Children's Hospital Parkville
Type: Permanent, Full Time (1.0 EFT / 80 hours per fortnight)
Overview
This role is one of four new Nursing Education Coordinator positions, reporting to the Director of Nursing Education and aligned to the Surgery clinical education stream. The Nursing Education Coordinator provides leadership in the planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence‐based nursing education aligned with organisational priorities, professional standards and workforce needs.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of high‐quality nursing education programs aligned with contemporary practice.
* Coordinate education strategies that support workforce capability, safety, quality and professional development.
* Collaborate with operational leadership, educators and other key stakeholders to identify learning needs and priorities.
* Support the professional development of nurses across the clinical continuum, including early career to advanced practice roles.
* Contribute to organisational education governance, project work and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Apply best‐practice educational principles, innovation and digital learning approaches.
* Champion interprofessional learning in practice.
Qualifications & Experience
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse.
* Postgraduate qualification in nursing (preferably a Master's) and optionally a postgraduate qualification in education, leadership or a related field.
* Extensive clinical experience relevant to the surgery specialty stream.
* Significant experience in nursing education, professional development or clinical education leadership within a health care setting.
* Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate education programs aligned with organisational and workforce priorities.
* Strong communication, relationship‐building and organisational skills.
* Commitment to evidence‐based practice, innovation and continuous improvement.
Specialised Surgical Criteria
* Clinical and/or education experience within surgical services or perioperative related care environments.
* Understanding of surgical patient journeys, including pre operative, post operative and recovery phases.
* Experience supporting education related to surgical safety, clinical assessment and post operative care.
* Ability to align education programs with safety, quality and surgical workflow requirements.
* Experience developing education to support role progression within surgical nursing practice.
