Organisational Mission
The Mission of the Inner Eastern Local learning & Employment Network (IELLEN) is to improve lives through education, employment, and welfare support, for vulnerable and at risk (especially young people) in the Inner East / SE of Melbourne.
About IELLEN / School to Work
Established in 2001, the IELLEN is an incorporated association and registered charity, working mostly across three LGAs, Stonnington, Port Phillip, Boroondara, with some outreach to Bayside and Glen Eira. IELLEN is largely government funded via Agreements with the Victorian Department of Education (DE).
A current Agreement is to provide the "School to Work" program. This focuses on school – industry engagement and involves sourcing Work Based Learning (WBL) ie Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) or Work Experience (WE), largely for priority cohorts in government schools. "School to Work" also involves running school - employer engagement events or activities (eg mock job interviews, industry tours, career expos). A second Agreement with DE involves facilitation of the IE VET Cluster, which facilitates coordination between schools to plan for, coordinate and expand student access to VET.
