- Location: Canberra

- Start Date: Targeted start date of January through to March 2026

- Security Clearance Requirement: Given the secure nature of this role serving Government clients, we are seeking candidates who are Australian Citizens with an active security clearance or are eligible for obtaining security clearance.

- Remote working: Candidates will be required to be in Canberra office at least 3 days per week. Candidates willing to relocate to Canberra are welcome to apply.

Role Description

As the Technology Design Lead, you will oversee the design and functional delivery of projects. You will guide cross-functional teams to turn business goals into effective design and system solutions. You will lead, inspire, mentor your team members and work closely with stakeholders from business and IT. You will make sure that business needs match the detailed design and functional requirements. You are responsible for managing resources, ensuring quality, and communicating clearly to deliver scalable, user-focused results.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead Teams: manage and guide small teams, offering mentorship and support to promote professional growth, and ensuring a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

- Project Planning and Management: Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and deliverables. Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies. Contribute to change requests impact assessment, estimation and planning. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

- Stakeholder Facilitation and Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders. Facilitate regular status updates, workshops, and meetings to ensure alignment and transparency. Manage stakeholder expectations and address concerns proactively

- Solution Design: Lead the design of solution design specification that align with business requirements and technical constraints. Collaborate with technical teams to ensure seamless integration of functional and technical components. Develop design documents, process flows, and solution blueprints. This also includes demonstrated ability to resolve design issues as they arise during the delivery lifecycle.

- Requirements Management: Gather, analyse, and document business requirements in collaboration with stakeholders. Translate requirements into functional specifications and user stories. Ensure traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

- Adaptability: You are familiar with traditional waterfall as well as Agile, Scrum, and SAFe methodologies

- Strong Leaders: You have proven your leadership by successfully managing small teams of 8 or more people, overseeing projects efficiently, and juggling multiple tasks and priorities in fast-paced environments.

- Relevant Skills: you are skilled at using tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, and Confluence for project delivery. You understand system architecture, databases, and integrations. You have hands on experience with APIs, data mapping, and system interfaces

- Australian Citizenship: Australian citizenship is required for this role.

Qualifications

- Bachelor Degree – preferably in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

- 5+ years of experience in functional consulting, solution design, or similar roles.

- 3+ years of experience leading small teams.

- Certifications such as PMP, CBAP, ITIL, or domain-specific certifications (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Salesforce) are a plus.

- Experience in Agile, Scrum, or SAFe methodologies is highly desirable.
