Ranger Position
BNTAC is seeking three (3) dedicated individuals to join our growing team of Rangers. Our enthusiastic and committed Ranger team will be based in the Goondiwindi Region, and works across Aboriginal lands jointly managed by BNTAC, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS), the Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA), and in partnership with four regional councils: Balonne, Goondiwindi, Toowoomba, and Western Downs.
In line with cultural and funding requirements, this recruitment round is seeking to engage one male and two female rangers. This is an identified position, and we strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, in recognition of the importance of cultural knowledge, connection to Country, and community leadership in caring for Country.

The Role
As a Bigambul Ranger, you'll work across diverse landscapes and contribute to meaningful land and cultural management. You'll complete a variety of tasks, learn from experienced Rangers, and take part in ongoing training and development.
Bigambul Country is rich with cultural heritage, agricultural activity, freshwater systems, and a dynamic community. Your role will support the protection of Country through natural resource management, education, and cultural knowledge sharing.
Some of your duties will include:
* Maintaining and monitoring vehicle tracks, walking tracks, springs, wells, waterways, and sacred sites
* Feral animal and weed management
* Fire management activities
* Revegetation, fencing, and equipment maintenance
* Conducting wildlife, water, and soil surveys
* Cultural heritage surveys and recording
* Participating in meetings and cultural camps
* Educating schools, tourists, and community members about Bigambul lore and culture
* Basic admin duties and data collection
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* Driver's license C class or manual driver's license.
* Ability to operate a variety of tools, plant and mechanical equipment (brush cutter, whipper snipper, etc.) or a willingness to learn
* Knowledge of culture and traditional land and freshwater management, as well as mainstream natural resource management practices or a willingness to learn
* Adequate reading and writing skills and/or keen to improve these skills.
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* Exceptional communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
* Excellent attention to detail
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
* Experience driving 4WD vehicles in off-road or remote conditions
* Current Blue Card (or the ability to obtain one before commencement)
* Basic vehicle maintenance skills (e.g., changing oil, tyres)
* Experience using power tools such as chainsaws or angle grinders
