Helpdesk and support officer (city of canning)

Information Systems - Examinations, Certification and Testing (ECT) is looking to establish a pool of Helpdesk and Support Officers for permanent, fixed‑term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies that may arise during 2026 and 2027. The appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. The School Curriculum and Standards Division provides administrative and secretariat services and implements the decisions of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority).

Role

- Provide Tier 1 IT support services through the help desk function, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests related to computing and telecommunication systems.
- Manage user access across network, email, and telephony services, perform onboarding and offboarding activities, and maintain accurate configuration records in line with asset and configuration management procedures.
- Install and configure hardware and software upgrades, monitor security controls, and contribute to continual improvement of IT processes and standards.
- Maintain the equipment register, support backup and recovery operations for business continuity, and document IT procedures.
- Collaborate with external providers for problem resolution for IT systems as required.

Eligibility

- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

- Demonstrated experience in the control and support of personal computers, systems software and related hardware in a network environment.
- Demonstrated sound oral and written communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated well‑developed organisational skills.
- High level of problem‑solving ability in the context of a computing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the administration of databases in a helpdesk environment.
